Genki 元気 Fit is a Japanese word that has no direct English translation. It can refer to health, energy, vitality. Genki Fit was established in 2009 by David Ellis, who while teaching in a small rural Japanese village, came up the idea to provide a service for regional communities that didn't have easy access to fitness programs.
The Ellis family have provided fitness and dance classes to Smythesdale and the wider community for over 10 years.
When David decided to take a trip around Australia with his wife and 3 sons, the business was taken on by Jaymee Ellis in 2018. Jaymee has over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry and previously ran her own business teaching dance, fitness and circus skills. She holds a Certificate III in Fitness and is a certified STRONG by Zumba trainer.
Genki Fit offers affordable classes and no sign-up fees or memberships so that it can be accessible to people from all walks of life. The supportive, family environment provides much needed encouragement and support for members.
The aim is to have diverse, fun programs that all ages and abilities can enjoy and get results from.
